Far Gone and Out · 14 September 2007, 05:19 · File under: Making

We’re at Fortress Studios with Bolty mastering our sound piece for Grain, the audio art event that’s happening on the Isle of Grain the weekend after next. It’s been a strange journey making the piece, but really exciting to now be so close… and working with Bolty again is amazing. He worked on all the electronics for our Silent Sound machine. It’s going well, and pizza is on the way…

You Can Create · 11 September 2007, 00:47 · File under: Making

Maps, who’s album “We Can Create” is a Nationwide Mercury Prize album of the year, is organising a competition with Mute (their record label) for anyone to submit artwork in response to the album. A long-list of winners will be exhibited at the Art Vinyl galleries in London and Manchester and a final selection of the 10 best will be reproduced in a special limited edition version of the album next year.

All the details of how to enter can be downloaded here:

www.mapsmusic.com/invitation

And all entries to the competition can be seen here:

www.mapsmusic.com/create

The selection panel includes James Chapman (Maps), Patrick Burgoyne (Creative Review), Daniel Miller (Mute), Adrian Shaughnessy (Varoom), Paul A. Taylor (Mute) and me – Iain!
