Anyone else isn't you is a new video work made specifically to debut at The Hospital in Covent Garden, London. Part of Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard's ongoing Precious Little series, the exhibition also featured earlier related works, Everybody else is wrong made in 2004 for Pavilion in Montreal and Fucked up lover made in 2001 for Hobbypop Museum in Dusseldorf.
Anyone else isn't you is a 30 minute unscripted portrait of fourteen young people talking directly to the camera about love and loss. Iain and Jane use the premise of the homemade compilation cassette ('mix tapes') as a trigger to spark their subjects into talking candidly, the dymanic pace of editing blurs narratives and heightens the subject's oscillations between brash self-confidence and crushing uneasiness. Iain and Jane describe the mix tape as "personally curated mnemonic archives". Watch a short online video excerpt of the work.

Momus was born in Scotland and currently lives in Berlin. Since 1986 he's made sixteen albums of electronic folk music. He writes for American style and design publications like Vice, Index, Design Observer and AIGA Voice. He's currently working on a book about photoblogging to be published later this year by Thames and Hudson. Presenter of Radio 1's flagship music programme Lamcq live and weekdays 4-7pm on BBC 6Music, Steve Lamacq is a trusted pioneer of new British music. He joined the NME in November 1987 as a sub-editor and became live editor in 1991 where he developed a reputation for discovering new bands. He's continued writing througout his radio career and published his autobiographical book Going Deaf For a Living in October 2000. JJ Charlesworth writes regularly on contemporary art for magazines such as Art Monthly, Modern Painters and Art Review in Britain, ArtText in America and Flash Art, and has written on art for the Daily Telegraph. In 2004 he was a selector for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition. He has just started a new contemporary art magazine, entitled The Future and was recently appointed curator at Herbert Read Gallery, Canterbury.  The reading room in the gallery at The Hospital Iain and Jane were invited to select material for the reading room in the gallery at The Hospital. Iain and Jane work past the dead-end assumptions about authenticity
which much performance and video art has too long struggled with,
as much as post-modernism's celebrations of simulation and the endless
copy. What they offer is a curious truth about 'being real' today,
where the more we try to access it, the more it becomes a representation
separated from us. In the absence of other, more concrete forms of
association and of action, we are always threatened with disappearing
into an endless circuit of individualised similarity. Anyone else
is a song that points us to everything its subjects are, outside the
frame, beyond the video screen, and beyond the words of the lyric
sheet; life that is always more than the soundtrack that goes with

Following on from the exhibition at The Hospital, JJ Charlesworth, curator at the University College for the Creative Arts, selected the exhibition to be presented at the George Rodger Gallery at Maidstone.
