Iain & Jane were invited to make a new work for Meltdown 2007. The festival, which takes place annually at the Southbank Centre in London was curated by Jarvis Cocker in 2007. The UK pop icon curated his own eight-day festival across the venues and spaces of Southbank Centre. The festival opens with sets from Motorhead and Melanie and ends with a show from Jarvis himself, taking in performances from The Jesus and Mary Chain, Iggy & The Stooges and many more along the way. For the show, Iain and Jane created a compelling and beautiful new four channel work Kiss my Nauman. The piece references Bruce Nauman's Art Make-up. Click here to watch a 30 second excerpt
Kiss My Nauman was installed in a large freestanding dark room on the Royal Festival Hall ballroom floor for the duration of Meltdown. The piece was projected onto the four interior walls, it's 47 minutes long and has no sound. It is a four channel single take of each of the four members of the world's longest running Kiss tribute band, Dressed to Kill, putting on their character's make-up.
